It would have been impossible to visit many of these places in a coach.
Must mention the lunch - very high quality and very entertaining hosts - make sure you are hungry as the quantity is a challenge.
We would recommend this tour with absolutely no hesitation.

Hazel was an excellent guide, and I learnt so much about the beautiful island of Lefkada. Another tour was also running, so we met up along the way on a couple of the stops. Brian, the other guide also provided much information. If you want a tour away from the touristiy areas then I would highly recommend this day tour. Loved every second of it.

The sites and sights were beautiful, and Brian's knowledge was amazing and insightful. His friendliness and willingness to let us linger when we wanted to, added immeasurably to the trip and gave us a relaxing and happy time. The lunch was amazing and the views were beautiful. We saw a different side to LEFKADA that most people don’t get to see.First stop was a working Monastery, then the very interesting Karya Folklore Museum. We then stopped for cake and coffee in a small village square, before heading up in the Mountains, stopping at a little white Church at the top of the Island with the most amazing views.Next stop was lunch at a Taverna in Platistoma , where Hazel and her clients joined us.We were served a feast with wine by Mamma.Feta cheese salad , chicken souvlaki , with the best home made chips ever ! She grows her own vegetables, how can simple tomatoes and red onion taste so delicious? Not forgetting her lentils. This was the highlight of our holiday, great value for money. Hazel greeted us with a very warm and friendly reception when she picked us up from our hotel.
Our first visit was to the Faneromenis... read more Monastery, this was vibrant in colour and Hazel went into great detail explaining the history of the island from an amazing view point to the rear of the monastery.
Hazel then drove along the west coast into the villages in the mountains, the next stop was at the village of Karya to the folklore museum, it was originally a cave house. This was a fabulous place steeped in history.
Englouvi was our next stop for coffee and low calorie cake, low calorie because we 'blew off the calories' Haha. (Stealing that saying Hazel)
Hazel then took us to a hidden village where the Greek resistance hid from the German soldiers .
Our final stop before lunch was 1015 m above sea level at the Proffit Illias church with the most breathtaking views.
We then went to Platistoma for a meal at a friendly family run taverna, we had delicious food which included Mamas homecooked chips and entertainment from 'Nicholas Cage'
Hazel has so much love for this beautiful island and it shows in her knowledge and passion for its history.
If you do one thing when you visit Lefkada, please book this tour You will NOT be disappointed.
